Register today for our 27th Annual Conference happening November 5-6 at the Morgan University Center on the campus of Sul Ross State University. Conference attendees are invited to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends at the complimentary Friday night social (beer and wine) and silent auction. The silent auction will continue Saturday during the conference followed by our Annual Banquet on Saturday night.
This year, our banquet speaker is Dr. Rolfe Mandel, a world-renowned geoarcheaologist who has spent most of his career studying earth surface processes, especially the evolution of stream valleys and soil formation. His presentation will focus on the application of geoarchaeological and paleoecological methods in the search for evidence of the first people in the Americas, and will highlight several ongoing studies in the Big Bend region of west Texas, including investigations at San Esteban Rockshelter, the Genevieve Lykes Duncan site, and Calamity and Terlingua Creeks
Our conference brings together historians, archaeologists, folklorists & other researchers studying the past and present of the Big Bend region. If you would like to present, please complete the Call for Papers form and send materials to the Center for Big Bend Studies. If you would like to go to the conference, please register below! We hope to see you all there!
