NEW PUBLICATION: From the Center’s in-house publication series: Trans –Pecos Archaeological Program No. 7, “Prehistory in the Calamity Creek Valley: Brewster County, Texas.” This book not only documents the work done by a 1996 Sul Ross State University archaeological field school, but it also reviews the archaeological history of the region; including some never before published letters from J. Charles Kelley about his work done in Calamity Creek in 1937. Calamity Creek is precious to us because it is one of the first locations in the Big Bend Region where extensive archaeological research was conducted, setting the stage for how we think about this regions prehistory.
