Anthropology Minor Information

Sul Ross State University offers a Minor in Anthropology in the Jimmy D. Case College of Literature, Arts, and Social Sciences (LASS) and within the Department of Behavior and Social Sciences (BASS). The study of anthropology investigates the past, present, and future of the human experience and that of our closest ancestors. Course content and subject matter provide students with real-world skills and training in anthropological methods and practices, which cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding the diversity of human experiences – important skills regardless of whether a student continues in anthropology. Anthropology faculty strive to:

  • Provide students with an introduction to the major trends in anthropological methods and theory.
  • Provide students with the analytical tools to create research designs, analyze data, problem solve, and think critically.
  • Teach students how to read and evaluate scholarly articles, popular publications, and digital media.
  • Teach students how to complete scholarly writings and research projects in anthropology.
