On behalf of Milford Engineering Corporation, the Center for Big Bend Studies (CBBS), Sul Ross State University conducted a pedestrian archeological survey with shovel testing along a proposed 164.1-km (102-mi) Big Bend Telephone Company, Inc. fiber optic cable right-of-way (ROW) in Pecos, Crockett, Upton, and Midland counties, Texas, under Texas Antiquities Permit 3027. The project area also included three associated 15.2-x-15.2-m (50-x-50-ft) remote terminal areas immediately adjacent to the proposed ROW. During investigations, the remnants of four previously unknown prehistoric open camp sites (41PC573, 41UT45, 41UT46, and 41MD39) and two previously recorded prehistoric open camp sites (State Archeological Landmark 41PC14 and 41PC15), as well as two prehistoric isolated finds, were documented.
